Sick Kids, Big Profits: Gen Z Isn’t buying it

There is nothing more profitable for much of the health care system than a sick child.”  - Robert Kennedy Jr. (September 17th, 2024)

The system we have created in America is a system that profits immensely from vaccinations, pediatric doctor visits, and prescription drug use.

In 2000,

  • 40% of US school-age children have at least one chronic health condition.

  • 20 million young people (ages 12-17) are experiencing a mental, emotional, or behavioral disorder.

  • The United States made $1.5 billion dollars from vaccines. In 2024, the United States made $24.16 billion dollars.

Let that sink in.

Kennedy maintains that his goal is not to ignite fear or undermine trust in the healthcare system. Instead, he wants to ensure full transparency about what Americans are putting into their bodies—and about what is known, and not yet known, in public health research.

Our current leadership in America has finally pointed to the gaps within the CDC, and vaccine transparency is only one of the major concerns. Kennedy positioned himself as a person in our government that is advocating for “vaccine freedom,” a message that has resonated strongly with Millennials and Gen Z.

RFK Jr. has long believed that there is a correlation between vaccines and the rise of chronic illnesses in the world. Just over two months ago, he highlighted research suggesting that taking Tylenol during pregnancy may increase the risk of autism — an example he used to show how many factors are still being studied.

Kennedy has acknowledged that there has not been a proven direct link between vaccines and autism; however he emphasizes that there is not enough evidence to confidently rule out any potential birth outcomes. As a result of his strong convictions he pushed the CDC to clarify their wording on their website.

The CDC now states, “The claim ‘vaccines do not cause autism’ is not an evidence-based claim because studies have not ruled out the possibility that infant vaccines cause autism.”

The media has taken every opportunity to twist RFK’s words—shocking, right?. Despite this, Kennedy has remained firm, and encouraged many to be cautious of what they are putting into their bodies, and he wants to make sure that our people are informed of the POSSIBLE side effects of what our healthcare system is pushing.

The Democratic party is stating that RFK’s recent claims are detrimental to families that have children that are on the spectrum. House Democrats expressed concern on the funding that is being cut from medical research. Kennedy has reassured the public that funding for lifesaving research has not been stopped. His goal is to ensure that research findings, regardless of the outcome, are made available to the public.

It is important to recognize that Kennedy is striving simply for us to have freedom in our choices with healthcare.

Gen Z, let's be honest. How many of us were told we had to receive a vaccination before attending school? And think back to Covid-19, when you were warned that if you did not get the vaccination you would be restricted to online school, cut from the sports team, and prevented from attending any in person school events. These experiences provoked Gen Z to become the most hesitant generation when it comes to vaccinations and WE should be.

Kennedy is calling for informed decision-making, not blind acceptance. Our current leaders in office are putting the power of healthcare back in our hands.

Gen Z has questions, Kennedy believes that they deserve answers.

Honor God, nurture your body, and live well,
