Meet the Movement that’s Changing Health in America
It is no secret that Americans struggle with health and wellness as a whole. From fast food like McDonald’s to the widespread presence of toxic chemicals in everyday skincare products, the issues tied to American health are impossible to ignore. Our nation’s overall health has been on a steady decline for years. Many Americans cite the COVID-19 pandemic as a source of decline, but the truth is that it began long before that. America’s health began to shift in the 20th century—and now the question remains: How do we get it back, and can the “Make America Healthy Again” initiative (MAHA) help?
Let’s start by racing through the MAHA story. When President Donald Trump appointed Robert F. Kennedy Jr. as the 26th Secretary of the Department of Health and Human Services Services, it marked a turning point for America. Kennedy, who had long expressed a deep interest and passion about America’s broken healthcare system, accepted the offer without hesitation. Improving public health wasn’t just a talking point for him—it had been the driving force behind his career and campaign.
Trump made his intentions clear. In a post on Truth Social, Trump stated, “For too long, Americans have been crushed by the industrial food complex and drug companies who have engaged in deception, misinformation, and disinformation when it comes to public health.” After Trump appointed RFK Jr., MAHA became not only an idea – but a mission.
The corruption in these industries became especially apparent to many Americans during the 2020 COVID-19 shutdown, when people began questioning pharmaceutical companies and the substances being promoted for public use. Now, Kennedy has been entrusted with helping to restore the nation’s health system over the next four years.
In the first ten months of his leadership, several initiatives have been introduced—reducing staff at health agencies, changing vaccine regulations, and concerns about chemicals and toxins in food.
Across the nation, people have been calling for greater transparency from the healthcare system, and Kennedy is striving to deliver it. America spends more money on healthcare than any other country, yet continues to have the worst outcomes.
However, while government leadership plays an important role in shaping national health, lasting change ultimately requires effort from individuals as well. If Americans truly want to “Make America Healthy Again,” we must each take responsibility for pursuing healthier lifestyles and making better choices every day.
A Few Ways to Start Living Healthier
Educate yourself. Before stepping into a doctor’s office, take time to do your own research and understand your options (Vaccine and Disease Knowledge).
Stay informed. The healthcare system is constantly evolving. Stay up to date on the changes Kennedy and MAHA are implementing (Follow The Young Right 😉).
Seek big food, not big pharma. If your health isn’t where you want it to be, start by looking at your diet. Pay attention to what’s in your food before turning to medications or vaccinations.
Go for a walk. Healthy living starts with small changes, it is important to get daily exercise and a walk is a great place to start.
If we don’t take the time to question our healthcare system and pay attention to what we’re putting into our bodies, Big Pharma will continue to make decisions that impact us all.
It’s time to stop allowing the classical healthcare system to unilaterally dictate our health and start taking responsibility for our own well-being. RFK has sparked the movement, but it’s up to us to fan the flames and use our own bodies to promote a healthy lifestyle.
Honor God, nurture your body, and live well,
1 Corinthians 12:19-20 (NIV), “Do you not know that your bodies are temples of the Holy Spirit, who is in you, whom you have received from God? You are not your own; you were bought at a price. Therefore honor God with your bodies.”
